Summerset, a new community of 713 homes, has transformed the abandoned industry land into a New Urbanist neighborhood overlooking reforested hillsides and an expanded Frick Park. The proposed master plan, designed by LBA, contains a variety of housing options, street layouts, and the addition of multiple parks.
Summerset at Frick Park has pedestrian-friendly streets that are lined with trees. There is a mix of single-family houses and rental units with raised front lawns and porches. Some of the pedestrian-friendly streets of Summerset orient to views of Frick Park, the Monongahela River, and the surrounding hills and valleys. Within the community, there are new neighborhood parks and playgrounds. Subsequently, historic Frick park was expanded by 139 acres, creating a larger space for the community in this neighborhood and city-wide.
